Can You Lose 29 Pounds in 8 Weeks?

You may be thinking – “I just need to eat as few calories as possible and burn as many as possible, right?” Kind of….

Well to answer this question, I have decided to put myself to the test.
As the founder of VENUS, I want to show our followers that it is possible to lose weight without a crash diet. You just need the right tools for the journey. So today I want to share what I did differently to lose a huge 29 pounds without ever going hungry.
Before we start I want to give you some information about my usual day to day lifestyle. Apart from managing 2 sports nutrition companies (DA NUTRITION & VENUS); I go to the gym at least 6 times per week. Some days I will go to the gym twice – No excuses. My usual training and diet programme is designed to increase muscle, mass/size. Because of that I have to consume extra calories and as a result I gained extra body weight (both muscle and fat mass). Unnecessary weight gain or increase in fat percentage is directly related to calories you consume and calories you burn. Extra calories mean extra weight on the body, mainly as fat.
Ok enough with that, let’s talk about how I lost so much weight in 8 weeks..

The Journey: 

8 weeks ago I decided to use a balanced diet, supplements and regular exercise to lose some body weight (mainly fat percentage, not muscle) to prove that anyone can lose weight safely and effectively. At the start of this programme, I did not have a specific goal but the aim was to drop as much as possible without reducing calories drastically (yo-yo diet, crash diet) to lose weight. We know that most people who want to lose weight use crash diets to achieve their goal. Crash diets (where someone tries to quickly lose weight by cutting down on the amount of calories they eat) don't work for long-term weight loss, and most are not healthy. It is best to lose weight gradually, over time.
Starting weight: 102.5kgs (225.97 pounds) – Date 1st June 2016
Method: Daminda started taking 2-3 capsules of SHRED & ENERGIZE every morning before breakfast. On days he trained cardio, Daminda took 3 capsules 30min before the session. 

Diet:

I maintained a high protein diet throughout the 8 week period. I worked out the ideal calorie intake for me to maintain a lean and strong body. My food was well balanced and rich in protein. Boiled or grilled chicken, eggs, steak and fish were on table at all times. I only eat complex carbs like brown rice, brown pasta etc. I also used boiled potatoes instead of baked potatoes, because boiled potatoes digest in the body slowly compare to baked ones. This keeps you full for a longer period. I eat protein with every meal – While nutritionists may argue about whether low carb diets are best, one thing is for certain – a high protein diet helps you lose weight faster. So I used that as a tool to boost my fat loss. I used 40/40/20 ratio to calculate my daily calorie intake. This means each meal was composed of 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fats.
Preparation: To make my life easier, I cooked food in advance and kept it in the fridge. This easy method saved me enormous amount of hours each week. I usually pack 4-5 meals and have 2 protein shakes per day to add more protein in to my diet.

Cardio:

I had set myself a target to do 3 sessions of cardio maximum, a week. Each session lasted between 30-45 minutes in the gym and sometimes I run in the local park. I took 2 capsules of SHRED & ENERGIZE 20 minutes before my session and 3 capsules on low energy days.

Weight Training:

My week consists of three cardio sessions and five weight training sessions. I could have dropped more weight if I added more cardio sessions per week.

Here are my top tips for weight loss:

  1. Go to the gym or train outdoor at least 5 times per week. Living a healthy life must be one of your top priorities.
  2. Start lifting weights. Don’t worry ladies you won’t build muscles like me but it will fast track your fat loss and muscle tone. You will be stronger, leaner and happier.

The transformation was not easy, it was challenging. It wasn’t a miracle; it was constant mindfulness, proper diet and hard work. If you want to lose weight and get lean fast, you must create a large enough calorie deficit that is sustainable, that allows you to lose only fat (not muscle), keeps your metabolism humming, and energy levels high so that you can burn fat fast. This is the most effective method to lose weight (fat).
There is not a shadow of doubt in my mind you can have a lean, strong, healthy body, even if you work long hours, or sometimes lack motivation. With the right mindset and approach, you cannot fail. Wake up every day and say to yourself that “I AM STRONGTM” you just need time and determination. So don't give up. Stick with your healthy ways, and you'll soon have an "After" picture to show off too.
